From Monotone Bricks to 3D Smartphones

Not too long ago began one of the most used technologic advancements that modern technology has come across. The use of mobile phones blew up to an everyday device within years of the first release. The original phones were only offered in basic, non-color screens with monotone sounds. When mobile carriers decided to lower prices and provide customers with texting chat features, cell phones became a necessity to almost everyone in technology advanced countries. The camera and video camera addition to mobile devices soon came to phase out previous technology, along with the decline of online messengers. Cameras on mobile phones started off as a nice addition, but never had the quality of high-resolution cameras. Over the last few years, companies have continued to revolutionize the mobile device marketplace. Phones now come with cameras that shoot over 8 mega-pixels, which is outstanding quality compared to most digital cameras. HDTV is still a newer technology but as the televisions continue to flow into homes, so does the capability of shooting HD videos. There are now a number of phones that can shoot videos in real HD, such as 720p resolution. Mobile devices are even built with micro-hd ports so that they can be directly connected to HDTV's.

Just when everyone thinks that the mobile phone market has hit its maximum potential, LG announces the first glasses-free 3D phone. Shortly after HD became a widely used tech feature, 3D began to hit the public with stunning video effects and now interfaces in the third dimension. Now that 3D will most likely become the common feature on new mobile devices, I can't imagine what will come after the full release of the 4G network.

LG Glasses-Free Optimus 3D Phone Announced

If you read the intro paragraph to this article you'll already know of the fast history of the development of mobile phones. The recently announced Optimus 3D has not been seen live in action and won't be seen until LG demos it at the Mobile World Congress on February 14, 2011.

3D concept phones have been discussed for years, but never actually carried out due to technology stand stills with 3D glasses requirements. Supposably the concept will become reality in the next few weeks. If anyone is the first, it would definitely be LG.

Optimus 3D Details

  • LCD Panel for 3D display
  • Duel Lens Camera for 3D Capture of video and stills
  • HDMI Output port
  • DLNA Video Streaming
  • Possibly Android Froyo or Gingerbread OS

LG is currently keeping most of the details a secret until the reveal. They have not confirmed a mobile operating system for the new Optimus 3D, but speculations say that it will be running Android OS similar to the Optimus 2X. LG is also keeping details behind the glasses-free 3D display a secret for the Mobile World Congress.

This phone is still full of mysteries, but i'm sure it won't disappoint 3D fanatics.
