Army of Two: The 40th Day Review

Army of Two: The 40th Day is a continuation of the original Army of Two. The 40th Day regained its reputation from the hatred towards the "sloppy" original Army of Two. The style of the game is a third-person, Gears of War-like Role Playing Game.
The storyline continuation from the original Army of Two focuses on two mercenaries fighting through war and conspiracy from 1993 to present day. Although you can play solo, with a human partner that operates with artificial intelligence, the game is truly designed to be played with another player. However, EA did an amazing job at designing the computer human to operate from a series of commands that the play can control their computerized partner. The original Army of Two takes you through different cities through time. The 40th Day continues that battle with more modern cities and wars.
The "Army of Two" consists of Rios and Saleem, which are both Army Rangers. Although the storyline focuses mainly on Rios and Saleem, other characters provide resources to the Two's success. The 40th Day storyline takes you through parts of China that have been taken over by a huge organization of terrorists that are destroying cities.
The 40th Day offers many incredible features that have not been seen in video games before. Whether you choose to play as Rios or Saleem, you don't only control the customization of weapons, but EA added a feature to allow you to customize your character's masks. The masks worn by your character and partner symbolize who you really are, but hides your face during combat. You can use the default masks, find masks in the game, or completely customize your mask online.
Another cool feature about The 40th Day is that YOU choose the outcome of the story. Through each Chapter, you are given scenarios where you decide the outcome of the story. You can choose to sacrifice innocent lives, or try to gain morality by saving civilians and disobeying orders. With the help of your relationship with your partner, you can interact with them and gain friendship, or become enemy partners. Mock surrendering allows you to tease your enemies while your partner stays hidden or joins you for acting as if it's the end of the road for the Army of Two. Coming out of a Mock surrender causes a short slow-motion effect where you can draw your pistol and takeout enemies holding people hostage.
As you kill terrorists, explore the cities, and complete tasks, you are rewarded cash. Cash is used to buy new weapons and add-ons for your current weapons. Customizing your weapons can drastically change the characteristics of your weapon by changing the range, power, and control of your weapon of choice.
The only flaws that I would say come along with the gameplay is the third-person, which is favored by some gamers, but first-person would provide many "First-Person Shooter" enthusiasts to fall in love with the game. Another annoying feature in the game is that you are REQUIRED to watch the somewhat lengthy cut-scenses. There is no option to skip these cutscene's and it can become annoying when you just want to play the game.
