Steve Jobs Taking Medical Leave of Absence

Today starts Apple CEO Steve Jobs' medical leave of absence, just two years after his previous 6-month absence from receiving a liver transplant. During Jobs' leave, Apple COO Tim Cook will be taking over Apple's day-to-day operations.

In 2004, Steve Jobs was diagnosed with a treatable form of Pancreatic Cancer. After losing a great amount of wait from treatments, he has appeared very thin in recent keynote presentations. In 2008, Jobs' did not appear at his annual December Macworld Keynote presentation, but announced his medical leave of absence for the first half of 2009. This medical leave was when the tech tycoon CEO received a liver transplant. Jobs' keeps his medical conditions private for the time being. In 2008, Bloomberg mistakenly published an obituary for Steve Jobs when they mistakenly presumed him as deceased.

At the Verizon announcement last week, Jobs' did not appear for a huge announcement of the expansion of one of Apple's most popular devices, the iPhone. Apple Has officially announced that the iPhone release for the Verizon network will be on February 10, 2011. It seemed necessary for Steve Jobs to be at the event last week, but todays announcement of his medical leave clears his reason for absence at the Verizon event.

We wish all the best to Apple's CEO Steve Jobs and his journey to overcome pancreatic cancer.
